At 13.00, the "John D Spicer" was launched to a report from Holyhead Coastguard that a 12 year old boy had been swept into the sea off the West coast of Anglesey. He had been playing with another boy in the sea at Aberffraw when they got into difficulty although relatives tried to rescue them.  Trearddur Bay RNLI volunteers launched a lifeboat within three minutes of the alarm being raised before Porthdinllaen all-weather lifeboat crew launched along with a third lifeboat from Holyhead. Several coastguard teams have been involved in the search, which included a rescue helicopter from RAF Valley on Anglesey, helicopter crews from North Wales Police and the air ambulance.
