The Annual Mackerel Race 2003 The annual Mackerel Race should have taken place on Saturday 9th august but unfortunately it had to be abandoned due to fog and re held the following day. There was a fresh North West breeze which made conditions rather difficult for some of the smaller vessels and the catch was generally low this year. The winning boat " Guillemot" skippered by Steve Hoyle from Porthdinllaen caught 132 fish which averaged out at 33 fish per rod.

Ex Station Administrator and top local angler Tom Morris unfortunately returned with no fish and was presented with the "No Fish Hat" by organiser Roger Bescoby whose magnificent efforts raised over £350 for the RNLI
