I have just found your site out of curiosity after listening to your recent shout on vhf.You do a fantastic job for sometimes irresponsible & thoughtless, ill-prepared people.I sincerely hope that i never have to call upon you but i am reassured that you and the coastguard are there for us if something does go wrong. Many thanks, diolch yn fawr.

I visit P/D/Llaen once or twice every summer,My friend has the converted ex-french fishing boat, with red topsides, blue covings, and white wheelhouse,I was also on the Beaumaris lifeboat for 25yrs. years, finishing as DLA, we recently had a good chat to the cox'sn in the l/boat house,we do some diving in the area, also around Bardsey, always enjoy a chat with the father and son who owns the yellow catamaran on the Island, like your website, very professional, good luck in all your shouts,Safe boating, like safe flying, is no accident!

The Charles Henry Ashley was commissioned from Portsmouth and Frank Foale took his engineer and brought the new boat round the coast to Porthdinllean to begin her duty. Last I heard about her was when I heard she was the stand in boat at Penlee after their disaster. Frank Foale lost two of uncles and a great uncle in the Salcombe disaster of 1916 with the wreck of the Western Lass.I miss Frank Foale , he was my Dad.

My Dad Frank Foale was Coxwain of the Charles Henry Ashley and on station from about 49to54 or thereabouts, and as a child I spent my earliest years in and around the boathouse as he was always on call. It moves me to see that the work that he held so dear is still in such safe hands. May your Gods Bless You All.

The Charles Henry Ashley lifeboat now resides in France and is berthed just outside Paris on the river Marne. Il just underwent a complete hall and superstructure paint job. Word has it the present owners are intending to sell the lifeboat, which has been internally converted into a pleasure craft and has received modern electronics.
