Boathouse History
Here are some of the more significant events in the history of the station boathouse
1864 First Boathouse built at a cost of £140
1876 Slipway lengthened
1888 A new lifeboat house and slipway constructed at a cost of £1200
1893 A special 15ft Boarding Boat built for the station
1919 The roller keelway on the slipway was lengthened
1925-26 The boathouse was extended for the stations first motor lifeboat and the slipway was extended to 351ft - one of the longest in use.
1986 A new access road to the station was built
